In commemoration of World Malaria Day 2026, Lampung Province organised an online seminar addressing malaria risks associated with tourism travel. The event was held on Tuesday, 5 May 2026 via Zoom, bringing together malaria programme managers, representatives from the tourism sector, and healthcare professionals from primary health centres and hospitals. OUCRU Indonesia was represented by Dr. Iqbal Elyazar, a malaria expert.
The seminar aimed to enhance awareness and preparedness regarding malaria transmission risks, particularly in marine tourism destinations. Discussions highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration between the health and tourism sectors to prevent potential transmission linked to traveller mobility. Participants were also encouraged to integrate preventive measures and malaria risk communication into the management of tourism destinations.
