In commemoration of World Malaria Day 2026, Lampung Province will host a seminar entitled Malaria Risk in Travel on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. The event will be conducted online via Zoom Meeting from 09.00 to 12.00 WIB.

The seminar is intended for a wide range of stakeholders, including malaria programme managers across districts and municipalities in Lampung, cross-sector representatives such as tourism offices and tourism industry operators, academics and research institutions, as well as healthcare workers from community health centres and hospitals.

The seminar aims to enhance awareness and preparedness regarding the risk of malaria transmission, particularly in marine tourism destinations where exposure risk may be higher. As tourist mobility continues to increase, understanding malaria prevention and mitigation becomes increasingly critical to safeguard both local communities and visitors.

Beyond addressing risk factors, the forum is also expected to serve as a platform for cross-sectoral dialogue to strengthen locally grounded malaria control efforts. An integrated approach between the health and tourism sectors is considered essential in reducing transmission rates in tourist areas.

The organisers encourage all invited participants to engage actively in the seminar as part of a shared commitment towards malaria elimination. Through multi-sector collaboration, Lampung Province is expected to accelerate progress towards achieving malaria-free status while ensuring a safe and healthy tourism environment.
